A 35-year-old man who was wanted for questioning for several offences in Berbice, this morning burnt himself to death in his home on seeing the police.
Police have identified the dead man as Krisindat Phagwah of 365 Fort Ordnance Scheme, Corentyne. An arrest warrant had been issued for Phagwah
Reports reaching Stabroek News are that just before 10 am, on seeing the ranks, the man ran into his house and bolted the doors and the windows. Shortly after, fire was seen coming from the house.
His charred remains were later found in the structure which was completely destroyed.
