A man who was held following the recent discovery of 21 kilogrammes of cocaine at Uitvlugt was yesterday released on station bail.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud after confirming the release said that investigations are continuing into the discovery.
When asked if the man was not the driver of the car, in which the drugs were found, Persaud responded that the suspect has been released on bail and investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile a senior police source said that the man was released because investigations revealed that he was not linked to the cocaine but the search continues for two suspects, who fled shortly before the discovery.
Police had said in a brief statement that around 1 pm on Tuesday ranks stopped and searched a motor car at West Coast Demerara location. During the search, police had said, 21 kilogrammes and 488 grammes of cocaine were found.
