Dear Editor,
I worked with Guyana Elections Commission during the claims and objections period from December 28 to February 7 as a cleaner at the Goed Bananen Land Health centre, Region 6 (New Amsterdam Registration office).
To date I have not been paid for my services rendered. All my efforts to make enquiries about payment are being met with no tangible reply. No one seems to know when and if I will ever be paid.
I am a very poor person, that is why I had to work as a cleaner in the first place, and not being paid after nearly one year is disgraceful on the part of the Guyana Elections Commission. How is it that the commission can’t find money to pay such a petty and insignificant amount, yet has funds to set up so many temporary sub-offices to continue registration?
I hope my letter will make Gecom aware of my plight if they were not so aware, and take the necessary measures to see that I receive my pittance due to me. I am tired of making enquires, being given promises and being referred from one person to the next.
Yours faithfully,
S Hookumchand
