Cammie not asked to give tribute at Murray’s Leguan burial – PNCR

The PNCR says that neither its Chairman Bishwaishwar “Cammie” Ramsaroop nor any of the party’s officers were asked to deliver a tribute at Tuesday’s Leguan interment ceremony for former chairman Winston Murray.

“The party wishes to make it clear that at no time did ‘the committee’ which was responsible for planning and executing the arrangements or any member thereof request that the party make available any officer to give a tribute at the internment ceremonies at Leguan,” a press statement said yesterday.

The party was attempting to “clear the air” on the Stabroek News report on the funeral, which noted that Ramsaroop was a no-show at the funeral despite being down on the programme to deliver a tribute.

The party said “it should be recalled that the party’s Chairman, Mr Bishwaishwar ‘Cammie’ Ramsaroop delivered a fitting tribute to our fallen comrade on the occasion of the Evening of Reflections which was held by the party at Congress Place, Sophia on Thursday 25 November 2010.”

Following Murray’s death on Monday, November 22, a statement was issued saying that a committee had been set up to look after the funeral arrangements.
It was said that the members of this body were the only persons authorized to speak about funeral arrangements.
