Post-mortem examinations on the bodies of the teenagers who were found hanging in an Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara house last Friday revealed that they died as a result of asphyxiation due to hanging.
Police said Dr Nehaul Singh yesterday performed the autopsies on the bodies of Avinash Persaud of Greenwich Park, East Bank Essequibo, and Kaymattie Hussein of Cornelia Ida and the cause of death in both cases was revealed as asphyxiation due to hanging. The two victims were found hanging in a building at Uitvlugt Pasture, WCD last Friday.
Persaud and Hussein had intended to wed but this was met with parental disapproval and it is believed that this led to the couple’s suicide. Police had said that investigations revealed that Persaud, 18, a minibus conductor and Hussein, 17, a waitress, shared a relationship but there were “parental disagreements”.
