Dear Editor,
If the Minister of Health has not yet replied to my question in the letter sent to him by Stabroek News he now has the testimony of Ms Basmattie Ramsawak and Mr Vijay Singh who have been public spirited enough to say what they know about the country’s main hospital. I thank them for following up this issue of such high public interest.
Another blogger added the information that the hospital lacks MRI imaging facilities. More directly, a prostate patient in a recent letter offered valuable information that “the GPHC does not even have facilities for conducting the prostate specific antigen (PSA) test. Upon referral by a doctor from the institution, I had to have this done at a private hospital ($5,000) and will take the results to the GPHC on my next appointment date.”
This is from a horse’s mouth, and the Minister cannot now avoid an answer and an explanation.
Yours faithfully,
Eusi Kwayana
