Edghill’s haul included her three individual titles in the girls 13, 15, and 18-and-under categories and she complemented this with wins in all three age categories of the girls doubles and the 13 and 18-and-under categories of the mixed doubles competitions.
With her dominant stride, Edghill was a certainty for a win with anyone she teamed up with, and in the 13 and 15-and-under girls’ doubles it was Jamaali Homer who was fortunate enough to team up with her.
In the 15-and-under, Homer and Edghill defeated the team of Priscilla Greaves and Akeicia Nedd 3 – 2. However for the 18-and-under Nedd found herself on the winning side, collaborating with Edghill to take down Adielle Rosheuvel and Saskia Chung 11 – 11, 11 – 9, 11 – 4.
Edghill teamed up with sibling Kyle for the mixed doubles and the team sealed the victory after defeating Greaves and partner Elishiba Johnson 11 – 6, 10 – 12, 11 – 4, 12 – 10.
And over in the 18-and-under mixed doubles Edghill joined forces with Brad Belle to yield a 11 – 3, 10 – 12, 8 – 11, 11 – 9, 11 – 8 win over the team of boys 18 champion Nigel Bryan and Nedd.
Bryan also had to settle for another runner-up position in the boys 18-and-under doubles, after he and his associate Zane Humphrey were outclassed 0 – 11, 8 – 11, 11 – 6, 13 – 15 facing the team of Denzel Hopkinson and Brandon Baldie.
Meanwhile, the championships will continue next Saturday with the senior division of the tournament. Both Edghill and Bryan are also expected to take part in the seniors’ competition.
