Canadian High Commissioner Francois Montour showed great application to the tough conditions at the Lusignan Golf Course over the weekend when he won the RRT Enterprises Golf Tournament.
The inclement weather once again posed a challenge to the golfers but Montour came out on top and won himself a gift certificate for a full- service package on his car valued $15,000 compliments of the sponsors.
Many of the players were required
to use mathematical skills probably not deployed since high school to figure out a format which rewarded a plus for a birdie, 0 for a par and a minus for a bogey. Montour ended
up with a score of plus four, the only player to get a plus figure.
Second place went to Canadian–based Jaipaul Suknanan with Brian Glasford securing the third position with -1.
Nearest to the pin for the second week in a row was Esau Shamshudin.
Sean Ramrattan Chief Executive Officer of RRT Enterprise thanked the club for offering the sponsorship and said he was happy to be involved in promoting golf in Guyana.
The certificate he presented for the winner included a full wheel alignment, brake and oil checks amongst other services.
Club Treasurer Brian Hackett in turn thanked Ramrattan for sponsoring the tournament two years in a row.
