Spads Incorporated will sponsor the Guyana NRA end-of-year Handgun Shooting championships on Sunday at the Timehri rifle and handgun ranges.
The Water Supply and Filtration Systems Company yesterday presented the sponsorship cheque to officials of the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) at its head office at Thomas Street, Cummingsburg.
Pauline Stevenson, Chief Executive Officer
of Spads Inc. said that her company was pleased to sponsor the event which is expected to attract close to 25 shooters.
GNRA Secretary Ryan Sampson thanked the company for sponsoring the tournament adding that the GNRA was looking forward to a fruitful relationship with Spads Inc.
Also present at the handing over ceremony were GNRA Treasurer Lt. Col. Terry Stuart and Smallbore captain Joseph Chin.
Chin who will act as Chief Range Officer on Sunday said that the day will be a very packed one so there will be a strict cut off time for registration. The first stages will be the 9mm bottle target, and .22 precision, which will be run off at the same time. These stages should take no more than an hour, and when this has been broken down, new stages will be erected.
The championship was originally scheduled for two days but was reduced to one day due to the closure of the TSU ranges at Eve Leary.
Among the shooters vying for top honours are Dale Hing, Dr. Johann DaSilva, Ryan Mc Kinnon, James Singh, Mohammed Qualander, Terry Stuart, Michael Blake, David Dharry and Captain B. Murli.
Starting time is 10:00 hours.
Prizes won Sunday will be presented at the GNRA Annual Presentation Ceremony at a date to be announced shortly.
