A fisherman of Sheet Anchor, Canje was sentenced to two years imprisonment after he admitted to a charge of break and enter and larceny yesterday.
Mahendra Seecreatan, 29, appeared before Magistrate Omeyana Hamilton at the New Amsterdam Court.
The court heard that on December 5 he broke into the apartment of Orin Fredrick, 21, a salesman and stole a quantity of clothing, valued $33,440.
Police Prosecutor In-spector Satrohan Dayaram told the court that Fredrick had secured his house and gone out and Seecreatan broke in and removed the clothing.
Frederick was returning home when he noticed public-spirited citizens confronting the defendant and later learnt that his home was burglarized.
