I would like more of Nicola Fernandes’ footwork. I have been watching sport for a long time. I used to love to hear BL Crombie read all the sports news in less than two minutes. I was told he wrote in longhand but it looked like shorthand, and when he looked at it himself a few days later he used to have a hard time deciphering it.
I have seen Mohamed Ali hitting George Foreman to the canvas. I have seen the Williams sisters hitting the ball all over the place, but I am yet to see Nicola dancing on the court in squash, even though she is the champion. I have even seen our own Rohan Kanhai falling on his back after hitting the ball to the boundary.
With today’s technology in the case of Nicola it could be anybody or anything hitting the ball on television. It would be nice to see our squash champion, like the other sports personalities, in action.
I believe that the Fernandes can pay for a whole game, much less a few shots by our own Nicola. One thing that bothers me is whether she is the champion of squash or for drinking a bottle of water with a big smile? I would like to see those shots.
