CHENNAI, (Reuters) – India completed a 5-0 whitewash over New Zealand in their one-day series yesterday when they won the final match by eight wickets after bundling the Kiwis out for 103.
Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin led the Indian spinners with three wickets while part-time spinners Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan took two each on a dry pitch at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
Only a 43-run partnership between Scott Styris (24) and Jamie How (23) for the fourth wicket ensured New Zealand reached three figures.
India lost the in-form Gautam Gambhir for a duck and Virat Kohli for two with just 10 runs on the board.
Left-handers Parthiv Patel (56) and Yuvraj (42) then weathered the storm to take India to victory in just 21.1 overs, with eight wickets to spare.
India won the three-test series 1-0.
