Miss Guyana Universe Tamika Henry and a group of friends will be holding a fun-filled benefit concert in aid of various orphanages in Georgetown next Sunday.
The Glorious Children’s Benefit concert will be held at the Queen’s College Auditorium and doors will open from 5 pm. Tickets cost $500 and anyone under the age of 13 will be admitted free of charge.
Speaking to The Scene recently, Henry said that for some time, herself and friends from the Candle Light Gift Shop located in Eccles had been discussing the idea of a concert for the benefit of needy children. Recently they started making concrete plans for the concert.
Henry explained that children will enjoy free food, candy, toys and of course get an opportunity to meet Santa Claus. Those in attendance, she further revealed, will be entertained with performances from several location artistes including Lynden ‘Jumbie’ Jones, ‘Bliss’ and the Classique Dance Group in addition to some steel pan music.
According to Henry there will be a special treat in the form of a fashion show, during which children will be modelling clothing from Nino’s Boutique which is located in the Multiplex Mall, Regent and Wellington Streets.
Tickets are available at Queen’s College, Lifestyles, Streetstyles, Precise Printing and from Henry.
