The Manhattans, a melodious quartet that brought us the timeless hit ‘Kiss and Say Goodbye,’ will be in Guyana next week performing at the National Cultural Centre at the ‘Night of Classics’ concert hosted by Hunte Entertainment.
John Hunte, promoter and owner of Hunte Entertain-ment, told The Scene that the two-night show will be “a good Christmas show” like no other.
The show, which will be held on December 19 and 20, promises a night of timeless music and also features lead singer from The Chi-Lights and local talents such as Mariam Williams, Candace Fields and Jessica Xavier among others.
“The Manhattans and Chi-Lights are going to make special appearances singing Christmas songs…” co-promoter Mondale Smith added. According to Smith, the first night features the main acts while on the second night The Manhattans and The Chi Lights team up with local singers Candace Fields, Jessica Xavier, Joyce Davis, Michael Smith, Sean Bhola and others as part of the Rotary Club annual Christmas Concert. According to Hunte, part of the proceeds from night two will go to the Rotary Club.
Patrons can expect an unforgettable night of great music at the Night of Classics. The show starts at 8pm both nights.
The Manhattans are an American R&B group which began singing back in the early ’60s and created hits such as ‘Shining Star’ and ‘There’s no me without you,’ among others.
The Chi-Lights is another American quartet that brought soulful hits such as ‘Oh Girl’ and ‘Have You Seen Her?’ According to Hunte the Chi-Lights performed at the NCC two months ago.
Night of Classics is sponsored by Carib Beer and Digicel as well as Candle Light Gift Shop. Tickets cost $3,000 and $2,000 and are currently on sale at Nigel’s Supermarket and the NCC.
