Jomo Primo is the Groovy Soca King after edging out Michelle ‘Big Red’ King to cop the title at the National Park early yesterday morning.
With the groovy gospel ‘Unspeakable Joy’ Dallas Forte finished as second runner-up while Sweet Kendingo asked ‘Hey is whe de party deh’ and was relegated to the third-runner up position. Adrian Dutchin finished as fourth runner up.
Before a supportive fair-sized crowd, Jomo unleashed ‘On Meh’ and this coupled with his usually electric performances was enough to guarantee him the crown. Big Red came with ‘Wuck it down on meh’ but although her song was well received, she could not match Jomo’s stage performance.
The Banks DIH-sponsored show got underway after 11pm on Saturday and when the 14 performers were done it was close to 2am. After Jomo’s and Big Red’s performance, it was clear that either of them could have taken the crown but in the end, Jomo proved that Big Red could not ‘wuck it down’ on him.
