Passers-by discovered the body of a man in a trench in the vicinity of Camp Ayanganna on Vlissengen Road just after noon yesterday.
The dead man has since been identified as Roger Austin, 47, of 184 Shell Road, Kitty, Georgetown. His body was taken to the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour and this newspaper understands that no marks of violence were observed.
Austin, Stabroek News learnt, suffered from a mental ailment and was in the habit of leaving his Shell Road home, where he lived with his mother, for days at a time.
The man was last seen alive some time on Saturday morning. Relatives have since expressed a belief that Austin may have fallen into the trench some time on Saturday and was unable to get out.
