Several members of a Joint Services patrol came under fire while pursuing a wanted man in the Plaisance Squatting area on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) early yesterday morning.
According to a police release, just after midnight yesterday members of the patrol encountered Gary De Florimonte called ‘Sadam’, who is wanted for questioning in relation to a number of robberies on the ECD.
He was among a group of men gaming at the Plaisance Squatting area. The police stated that De Florimonte ran from the scene and was pursued by ranks during which he discharged several rounds at them. The man managed to elude the lawmen.
It is unclear whether the man was hit but Commander of ‘C’ Division Gavin Primo told Stabroek News yesterday that none of the ranks sustained injuries.
