Youth left arm pacer Andre Stoll is the lone newcomer in the senior national team that will defend its title in the Caribbean T20 tournament next month in Antigua/ Barbuda and Barbados.
Stoll, who plays cricket for the Police Sports Club, was given the nod after Chairman of Selectors Claude Raphael, National Coach Rabindranauth Seeram and Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan met yesterday afternoon to trim the 24-man squad to 14.
Stoll, 19, is likely to share the new ball with Esaun Crandon, the other specialist bowler in the side.
The selectors have also included West Indies middle order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the side for the tournament which begins on January 10.
Left arm orthodox spinner Veerasammy Permaul will also be rejoining his spin cohort
Devendra Bishoo to shore up the bowling detail, which will also have medium pacer Christopher Barnwell and offspinners Narsingh Deonarine, Steven Jacobs and Royston Crandon.
These players will be expected to contribute significantly with the bat.
Young opening batsman Richard Ramdeen has been retained in the side that has seen Sewnarine Chattergoon and Assad Fudadin failing to get the selectors’ nod. Jonathan Foo will also have another chance to display his power hitting that made him one of the stars at the inaugural tournament last year in Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago.
