Former Finance Minister Carl Greenidge has been sacked as the Deputy Senior Director in the CARICOM Secretariat’s Office of Trade and Negotiations (OTN), following a complaint by the Guyana government over recent statements he made while delivering a tribute at the funeral service for the late Winston Murray.

Armed robberies dip by 20%

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) records show that armed robberies have decreased by 19.6% since last year and credit is being given to increased anti-crime patrols and intelligence gathering.

Dear Editor, In response to a letter in your newspaper dated December 15, 2010 and captioned ‘ECG service at Georgetown Hospital not available because of “lack of paper,”’ management would first like to thank the author for highlighting the problem and must advise that it exists because the local suppliers of the paper required for the machine had supplied the incorrect type, inter alia, and as a result the hospital had to source it from an overseas vendor, but it is yet to be delivered.
