Guyana’s Jessica Stephenson captured a gold medal while Olympian Niall Roberts copped silver when the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) Invitational Swim Meet continued on Friday.
CARIFTA Games breaststroke gold medallist, Stephenson, earned gold by clocking 2:46.88s in the 200m breastroke event.
Stephenson, representing Marlins Swim Club, rushed down the pool a very convincing 18 seconds ahead of the silver medallist, Sangeeeta Maharaj of Stingrays.
Guyana’s Athena Gaskin finished the event in 3:23.02s to finish in seventh position.
Roberts recorded a personal best 26.71 seconds performance in the boys 15 and over 50m butterfly earning a silver medal.
In the girls’ 15 years and over 50m butterfly event, Guyana’s Noelle Smith, representing her Trinidad club U.W.I Swim Club, finished 11th in 32.82 seconds while in the girls’ 13 – 14 years category 50m butterfly event, Gaskin finished 14th in 35.69 seconds. and Soroya Simmons finished in 38.06 seconds.
In the boys’ 11 – 12 years 50m butterfly event, Hannibal Gaskin produced a new personal best of 34.70 seconds.
