A South Ruimveldt man is wanted for questioning into armed robberies that occurred in the Upper Waini River area over the weekend which resulted in the theft of an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), raw gold and cash.
Police, in a wanted bulletin issued last evening, said that Dwayne Little called `Tattoo’ is of mixed race and is brown in complexion. His last known address is Lot 3703 Balamby Place, South Ruimveldt.
Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Little is asked to contact the police. All information will be treated with strict confidence.
Stabroek News understands that the wanted man was charged before for similar offences as well as for discharging a loaded firearm. Little was released on bail.
Contacted, Divisional Commander David Ramnarine confirmed that Little is wanted in connection with the two robberies and is suspected to be using an ATV which was stolen during one of the incidents, to move around.
According to Ramnarine, a gazetted officer and a party of policemen left Mabaruma last Thursday for the Upper Waini River after receiving reports of the robberies. He said police have since confirmed the identity of “the prime suspect” in both incidents. He explained to this newspaper, that the investigating team was about to confirm that an ATV was stolen in the first case adding that there is evidence to suggest that the culprits are using it to move around.
Ramnarine said that in the second case, it was reported that raw gold and cash were stolen at gunpoint.
While returning to Buck Hall via the Sulphur Road on Sunday, the ranks received information which led them to an abandoned house surrounded by bushes. There the ranks found a .32 Taurus pistol and three matching rounds.
The commander added that later while travelling along Sulphur Road, two persons on an ATV stopped the team. One of them informed the ranks that he had found a .32 Taurus pistol at an abandoned mining camp. The weapon was handed over to the police.
Ramnarine stressed that the efforts of the ranks should be highly commended as they had been travelling since last Thursday and returned yesterday afternoon. He assured this newspaper that the ranks are maintaining anti-crime activities in the mining districts.
