An employee of the state-owned NCN was said to be in a serious condition after being involved in an accident at the corner of Robb and Oronoque Streets last evening.
Frank Davis of Chateau Margot, East Coast Demerara was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital and was being treated up to press time. Head of the Government Information Agency (GINA), Neaz Subhan, who was present at the hospital, told Stabroek News that Davis was driving his (Davis’) private car, PEE 7785, and had been part of a group heading to do some filming of a show when the accident occurred.
Passenger Victor Van-Field said that the accident occurred shortly after 8 pm. Van-Field as he awaited treatment outside the hospital reported that his chest was hurting. Blood oozed from a cut to his head.
Davis’ mangled car was left at the corner where the incident occurred. According to a resident, the car was heading east on Robb Street while a truck was headed north on Oronoque Street. The resident said that both were travelling at a fast rate and the truck hit the car. Residents said that the car had the right of way but the truck did not stop.
Davis had to be pulled from the mangled car through the window, another resident reported. The vehicle was spun around by the impact and hit an electricity pole. Police took the truck into custody and are investigating the incident.
