BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Two new players have been named in a 14-man Combined Campuses and Colleges squad to contest next month’s Caribbean Twenty20 Championship in Antigua and Barbados.
Selectors have opted for Barbadian batsman Kyle Hope and Jamaican all-rounder Nkrumah Bonner in the unit that will be led by experienced top order batsman Romel Currency.
Hope is an attractive 22-year-old right hander who played a single first class game earlier this year while Bonner, 21, is a strong leg-spinning all-rounder who has played for West Indies Under-19s.
No room has been found for former captain Omar Phillips, a steady member of the side who has already played two Tests.
The side will be again boosted by the presence of player/coach Floyd Reifer, big-hitting opener Martin Nurse and seasoned off-spinner Ryan Austin.
CCC are set to play in Group A alongside Jamaica, Guyana, Windward Islands and English County side Somerset, in the tournament that runs from January 10-23.
They will fill feature in the tournament opener against the Windward Islands at the Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
