(BBC) Health officials in the Dominican Republic are investigating their first suspected death in a cholera outbreak that has killed more than 2,500 people in neighbouring Haiti.
The victim died at his home in an area that has seen a surge in cholera infections in recent days.
The Dominican health ministry said more than 100 cases had been detected since cholera first crossed the border from Haiti last month.
Like Haiti, the Dominican Republic had not had a confirmed case of cholera in more than a century before this year.
