Leon Bynoe is now in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after being wounded in the leg when a bandit hit a female pump attendant of the Mandela Texaco Gas Station behind her head with a gun before robbing her of $60,000.
Police in a release said investigations revealed that three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, held up pump attendant Andrea Sealey, cashier Lavern Andrews and a customer Tricia Walcott and took away an undisclosed sum of cash.
As they were escaping, the police said, the armed man discharged a round which struck Leon Bynoe, who was taking fuel for his motorcycle at the time, to his left thigh.
However, Stabroek News was told earlier in the day by an eyewitness that one of the three men held up the female pump attendant and while demanding money, hit the woman in the process and the gun went off.
The bullet hit Bynoe, who was sitting on his motorcycle in the gas station. At the time, Bynoe and a person in a car were the only two customers at the gas station

Immediately, the gas station alarm sounded and the bandits ran off with some $60,000, which they had grabbed from the pump attendant. The police responded, but did not catch any of the men. However, it is understood that the gas station’s security cameras have captured the images of the three bandits.
