Joylin Nedd, the woman accused of murdering her husband on Christmas Day at Lima, Essequibo Coast, was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with murder.
The allegation against Nedd is that on December 25 at Lima, Essequibo Coast she murdered Dennis Braithwaite, 60, called ‘Brown.’ She was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder when it was read to her by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
In relating the facts of the case, prosecutor Stephen Telford said that Nedd and Braithwaite were drinking, when the man became abusive towards her. This, the prosecutor said, angered Nedd, who drew a knife and dealt the man a stab to his chest. Braithwaite was later rushed to the Suddie Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Nedd was later arrested and charged with the offence.
The case was transferred to the Anna Regina Magistrates’ Court for January, 4.
