The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) today said that the public should be aware that delivery of inbound mail and mail posted from here would have been affected by the severe weather in the US and Europe over the weekend.
In a statement, the GPOC said it had been informed by the Universal Postal Union that heavy snowstorms and blizzard conditions have been severely affecting mail operations in the north-eastern part of the United States and Europe.
The problems commenced on December 26th and continued throughout December 27th. “As a result import and export operations at the New York JFK office of operation were crippled”, the post office said.
“Persons are kindly asked to take note of these developments since they mean that their mail and parcels posted to the United States and Europe as well as inbound mail from these territories will inevitably be affected. The result being later delivery dates.”
