Businessman Gerhard Ramsaroop this morning described a report in today’s Guyana Chronicle that he had left the Alliance For Change (AFC) as “rubbish.”
“Rubbish, total rubbish,” was Ramsaroop’s response when contacted by Stabroek News about the article. While the headline said that he had left, the text of the article stated that Ramsaroop had “reportedly” left the party as the “infighting widens among factions in that small political party.” It said that Ramsaroop could not be reached for a comment but a top party member confirmed his resignation. The article said among the reasons for his departure was his disagreement with the party’s 2010 presidential candidacy.
Ramsaroop however told Stabroek News that he has indicated publicly that he would have to spend more time at the “businesses I inherited.”
“But I have no problem with anyone at the party and I have not left the party,” he declared.
