A former UK diplomat who served in Guyana for two and a half years is among those honoured by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth in this year’s list.
Amanda Rowlatt was made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire). She is presently the Director of Analysis and Child Poverty, Department for Work and Pensions, UK.
According to the Department’s website, Rowlatt has worked as an analyst in government for over 20 years. She started her career in the Overseas Development Administration, spending two and a half years in Guyana. She then returned to macro-economics, debt management, and environmental policy in Her Majesty’s Treasury, and a short posting to the European Commission.
She later moved on to be Chief Economist at the Office for National Statistics and then served as Chief Economist at the Competition Commission. Her subsequent role was as Director for Trade, Europe and International Financial Institutions at the Department for International Development.
