During the wee hours of this morning an attempt was made to torch the Enterprise Primary School.
Commander of Police C Division, Assistant Commissioner Gavin Primo confirmed that some time between 4 am and 4.45 am a person or persons unknown made a failed attempt at arson on the state building located at Enterprise, East Coast Demerara.
The fire, he explained, started in the lower flat of the primary school. It was the school’s security guard, the commander said, who raised an alarm. Residents immediately leapt into action and formed a bucket brigade to put out the blaze.
Reports reaching him so far, Primo said, indicate that the building was not extensively damaged. Investigations are ongoing.
