Barbadian political advisor Hartley Henry has been released from hospital in the United States after falling ill suddenly over the Christmas period, the Barbados Nation reported in today’s edition.
It said that when contacted yesterday, Henry, who is still in the United States, stopped just short of confirming reports that he had suffered a heart attack. Henry, who created a stir in Guyana last year during a visit as part of an Alliance For Change initiative to explore alliance building, told the SUNDAY SUN he was feeling much better and looking forward to playing an active role in the upcoming by-election in St John.
The former principal political advisor to late Prime Minister David Thompson had earlier declared immediately following Thompson’s death on October 23 that “the kingmaker dies with the king”.
During his visit here, Henry met with representatives of several political parties and other groups here, as part of an AFC-led initiative to explore alliances ahead of this year’s general elections.
In addition to members of the AFC’s National Executive Committee, Henry met with members of the PNCR, including leader Robert Corbin and Winston Murray as well as GAP/ROAR MP Everall Franklin and representatives of other groups. AFC executive Sheila Holder had explained that Henry was invited by the party to give a briefing on the negotiations of the pact that led to the formation of the People’s Partnership, an opposition coalition which won a landslide victory in Trinidad and Tobago.
