A 14-year-old girl died on Old Year’s night at a family friend’s home in Mocha and relatives believe she died as result of a prolonged heart problem but police have since launched an investigation.
Dead is Peola Drusis of 242 First Street, Mocha, East Bank Demerara.
Stabroek News understands that while the child died at the house she was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her death was reported to the Grove Police Station and ranks there contacted the Lyken Funeral Home where her body is now lying awaiting a post-mortem examination.
According to reports the child was at a family friend who observed that she was not well and contacted her mother to take the child to the hospital. The woman left to attend an Old Year’s Night church service and it was during this she received the news that the child had died.
