PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Former Sports Minister Manohar Ramsaran says he hopes to bring a renewed energy to the national programme after taking up a key post in the local cricket board here yesterday.
Ramsaran, who served as a government minister in the United National Congress administration between 1996 and 2001, has been appointed the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board’s new administrative manager.
“Our ambition in the 2011 season is to win three titles. This is very much a possibility with the kind of change that I hope to bring,” said Ramsaran.
“We have a good manager in Omar Khan which is a step in the right direction to getting the team back in the winning mode. I am confident that they will do well.”
Ramsaran, who played the game up to club level, is a former administrator of Monroe Road Cricket Club and will bring experience to his new role.
He said he expected to hit the ground running, meeting with staff from the TTCB and the National Cricket Centre with a view of further streamlining the operations of the two entities.
“I am here to carry out the wishes of the T&TCB and I would also be hoping to put some of my ideas into action,” he noted.
“I have already spoken to several top persons who have an interest in cricket and will be counting on their support on the way forward.”
