The Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) Senior cricket team will meet the T&T ‘A’ team in a revenge clash Thursday night at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre.
The T&T ‘A’ Team won the T&T Cricket Board’s (T&TCB) T20 Festival last Thursday, to claim the $20,000 prize. Guyana, reigning regional T20 champions finished second, T&T Seniors third, and the T&T Academy, fourth.
En route to their title, the Senior team went down to the “A” Team by two wickets.
On Sunday, manager of the team, Omar Khan, said both teams will clash as the final act of preparation for the Senior team before they fly out to Antigua Sunday for the Regional T20 series.
Khan also revealed that the players will enter camp tomorrow at the Paria Suites Hotel in La Romain for two days. Khan will conduct mental preparation sessions.
After their defeat to the ‘A’ team Khan he has stressed to the players that there is no room for mistakes in T20 cricket. “T20 cricket is three hours of cricket that needs total focus. There is little or no room for mistakes and you have to be on the top of your game. “What we have realised is that in this form of cricket, the key is to eliminate errors and take it from there.
“I have told the players that in T20 cricket dot balls (balls that no runs are scored off) are like gold.
“When we bat we need to score of every ball because when you miss out it puts pressure on the team.
“And of course when we bowl a dot ball is what we want to get on a regular basis.”
Khan ended by saying that he was confident that the players will do well in the regional T20 series because they are being made aware of where they stand at the moment and what is required to return as the champions.” (Trinidad Guardian)
