A man accused of turning up at his ex-girlfriend’s workplace and threatening to kill her was yesterday placed on bail in the sum of $10,000, after denying a threatening language charge.
Damian David told acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry that he did not threaten Phoebe Eastman, thus causing a breach of the peace.
It was alleged that on January 4, after Eastman ended their relationship, David went to her work place and threatened to kill her.
When given a chance to speak, he said he never threatened to kill his former girlfriend.
According to him, he went to the home he once shared with Eastman in an attempt to retrieve a fan he owned, when she made the allegation against him.
The trial commenced yesterday and Eastman took the stand and told the court that she was afraid for her life as it was not the first time that David threatened her life.
After being told by the prosecution that another witness is to be called to testify, David was placed bail. The case was adjourned until January 11.
