A man who knocked out his sister’s tooth during an argument over the use of a blender was yesterday placed on $40,000 bail and ordered to report to the probation department.
Roy Cascius, 46, admitted to acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry that on January 3, at Georgetown, he inflicted grievous bodily upon Zoe Cascius.
Prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that the two were at their home, at 228 East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, when they got into an argument over the use of the blender.
Telford said the argument intensified and got physical as Roy suddenly dealt his older sister a cuff to the eye and dislodged a tooth during a scuffle.
The woman, who was present in court, had visible swelling above the injured left eye, which was black and blue.
When given a chance to speak, Roy, a father of three, constantly apologised for wounding her, adding that he had no idea that the blow was so severe. “I cuff her, but I din know it was suh hard,” he explained. He added, “I sorry fuh what I have done to my big sister.”
The magistrate subsequently ordered a probation report and placed Cascius on bail and a bond to keep the peace, prior to the determination of the matter.
He was ordered to return to court on January 28.
