Two UG students held after firecracker lobbed from car

Two first-year students from the Department of Geology, Faculty of Technology,  Turkeyen campus, are assisting police with their investigation into the loud explosion that occurred around 1 pm today on the campus, the University of Guyana said this afternoon.

A senior police officer from C Division, East Coast Demerara, said that the device used was a `three-shot firecracker’, the university said in a press release.

According to Registrar Vincent Alexander, “No injuries were reported, all employees are accounted for and no buildings have been damaged.”

The university said that the firecracker was thrown from a moving car between the Faculty of Technology and the Administration building.
