The police say they are investigating an incident that occurred at about 0445h today at Non Pariel, ECD, during which Ramchand Rampadarat, 36 years, was shot and injured by a businessman who is also a licensed firearm holder.
Investigations, according to the police, revealed that businessman Tarman Piarralall was awakened by noise on his premises and on checking observed Rampadarat allegedly removing articles from his yard. He challenged Rampadarat who allegedly attacked him with a knife and was shot to his right thigh and right hand.
Ramparadat has been admitted a patient at the GPHC.
