Mark Hoosein, 22 years of Fourth Street, Cummings Lodge, ECD, and Rhomayne Li, 18 years of Cummings Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, were today charged with unlawful possession of explosives and throwing an explosive in a public place and fined.
The police said that they appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court where they pleaded guilty and were each fined $30,000 on the charge of unlawful possession of explosives and $10,000 on the other charge.
The charges follow investigations into an incident that occurred at about 1.30 pm yesterday at the University of Guyana, Turkeyen Campus where the two students exploded a three-shot firecracker on Campus causing fear and panic among persons and disrupting classes. The police said that another firecracker was found after a search of a motor vehicle in which they were travelling.
