Defending champions in the MYO Inter-Jamaat 10-over tape ball round-robin cricket competition Enmore beat Grove Falcons while Farm defeated Mocha on the first day of this year’s tournament. Grove Falcons batted first and amassed 71 before they were bowled out in their allotted overs when the Trophy Stall sponsored tourney got underway. Salman Ghanie top-scored for Grove with 12 (1×6).
Bowling for Enmore, Reaz Yacoob picked up three wickets for 13 runs, supported by Yuvraj Ali with three wickets for 17 runs. Ameer Khan also took two wickets for nine runs off his two overs. They soon got into a little trouble before overhauling the target by scoring 73 for the loss of seven wickets. Khan led Enmore’s batting with 18 runs (1×4 and 2×6).
Bowling for Grove Falcons Ahmad Nizamudeen picked up four wickets for eight runs and Shafeek Ishmile two wickets for 14 runs. In the other match-up Farm batted first scoring 95 for five with Ricky Sargan blasting 31 not-out. He was supported by Yunus Mohamed, who added not-out on 11 runs.
Bowling for Mocha Arcadia, Tariq Cave picked up three wickets for 21 runs. However, the team only managed 42 for nine before their overs expired. Cave led Mocha Arcadia’s scoring with nine runs.
Budhan Baksh and Vishaul Beharry picked up three wickets for eight and six runs respectively for Farm, while Ricky Sargan also picked up two wickets.
In another game, New Mosque got a walkover from Lusignan who failed to turn up, while all matches set for Sunday were abandoned due to the heavy rains overnight.
