HAMILTON, New Zealand, (Reuters) – Pakistan made short work of the tail to bowl New Zealand out for 275 early on the second day of the first test at Seddon Park yesterday.
Chris Martin was left nought not out after Umar Gul and Tanvir Ahmed provided a steady stream of short-pitched bowling as New Zealand added just 15 runs in 7.5 overs after resuming on 260 for seven.
Paceman Tim Southee (56), who along with Kane Williamson (50) helped rescue New Zealand from 177 for seven on Friday, lasted one delivery yesterday when he was caught in the slips by Younus Khan from a Gul bouncer off the third ball of the day.
Williamson completed his second test half-century with a single into the covers but was out shortly after when he attempted a hook shot to a Tanvir delivery that was well above his head and wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal took a simple catch.
Brent Arnel was the last man out when he was caught at mid-on by Wahab Riaz after mis-timing a hook from another short-pitched delivery by Tanvir, who finished with four for 63.
Left-arm spinner Abdul Rehman also claimed three for 51.
