Fiona Harris was returned unopposed as president of the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (GABBFF) on Friday evening when the association’s Annual General Meeting was held.
Harris, a former bodybuilder, in a brief statement with Stabroek Sport yesterday said that a comprehensive report has been drafted and this willserve as a guide for the association to carry out its mandate in 2011. Some of the areas that were not able to be completed in 2010 will also overlap since according to Harris, the focus will be to pump more life into the sport.
The president noted that there were some shortcomings in 2010 but she also pointed that there were some positive aspects that the association can gather momentum. She pointed out that all these are noted in the report and the details will be made available some time today. Meanwhile, the normal 12-man committee was replaced with a six-member steering committee. The members of the new executive are Harris, Mark St. Clair, Malcolm Changa, Adrian Andries, Devon Wray and honorary member and past president George Marshall. Harris said the group will be meeting later in the week to discuss the roles that will be played by each member.
