Stacey Sampson, charged with stealing a sum of money from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), yesterday told a court that she needed it for business.
Sampson, 28, accepted that on September 15, at Camp Ayanganna, being employed as a clerk or servant by the GDF, she stole the sum of $40,585.
Appearing before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, Sampson said, “I was in need of it because I had some business to look after.”
fter pleading guilty to the charge of larceny by clerk or servant, the El Dorado Village, West Coast Berbice resident then indicated to the court her willingness to repay the money.
Sampson was admitted to bail in the sum of $25,000 and the Magistrate fixed sentencing for January 31, pending a probation report into the matter.
