One of the sections close to Mango Landing is being repaired by MMC, after weeks of erosion. It had not, however, reached an impassable state, residents in the mining community said. They said that a few days ago MMC began to carry out emergency works to prevent further deterioration. They said that the erosion started close to a hole in the road.
Meantime, another area where deterioration is taking place is between Mango Landing and Mahdia, close to the Tiger Creek. While the section is not an impediment to traffic, minibus operators are calling on the authorities to begin repairs to the section, which has been “deteriorating for quite some time.” According to the residents, miners have been using that particular stretch of road to get to ‘Jumbie Creek’ because of a ‘gold shout’ in that area.
