KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Usain Bolt has announced that he will run at the Bislett Games in Oslo in June.
It’s the first date for this year international track & field season that the 23-year-old sprint megastar has confirmed.
“I have never been to Norway before, so I will come to Bislett prepared, and ready to run a fast race and entertain the fans,” said Bolt in a media release through the organisers.
“I am looking forward to compete for the first time in front of the famous Bislett Stadium crowd in Oslo. I hold three World records, but I hear this track has an incredible 69 World records on it, so it will be nice to run in such a famous stadium.”
Bolt will contest the 200 metres at the event, one of 14 Diamond League meetings in 2011.
The Jamaican disclosed that his recovery from a season-ending injury last year has gone well, and he’ll be looking to be razor sharp for this season, which also includes the World Championships in South Korea.
“As this year is a World Championship year, every meet is important for me in the build-up to defending my titles,” said Bolt.“My competition at Bislett and several other IAAF Diamond League meets throughout the season will be an important stepping stone towards that goal.
He added: “My preparations have gone really well, the injury problem I had during the last summer is fully healed, and my training has gone according to plan.”
Bolt is the reigning World 100 and 200 metres champion, having set World records to win the events at the last World Championships in Berlin, Germany.
