Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday granted $125,000 bail to a former employee of the Guyana Lands and Survey (GL&S) Department arraigned on three charges of forgery.
The allegation against Robert Park of 126 Duncan Street is that on September 30, 2010 at the GL&S, with intent to defraud, he uttered to Babulall Kundum a forged plan numbered 48555 purporting to be issued by Mohamed Shansul Azam, knowing same to be forged. It is also alleged that between September 10 and 30, 2010 at Georgetown, with intent to defraud, Park conspired together with persons unknown to forge the said plan purporting to show that same was issued by Azam, knowing same to be false.
Park is also accused of with intent to defraud, obtaining from Kundum the sum of $70,000 on September 30 at the GL&S, under, upon or by virtue of a forged instrument; that is to say a plan, purporting to show it was signed by Azam, knowing same to be forged.
After the Administration of Justice Act was applied, Park pleaded not guilty to the indictable charges of uttering a forged document, conspiracy to commit a felony and obtaining upon a forged document when they were read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that no additional information was available about the case. He also did not object to bail but requested that it be granted in a substantial sum.
Park was ordered to return to court on March 2 for statements.
