The rebuilding of the Sacred Heart Church, which was gutted on Christmas Day in 2004, is set to begin later this month, according to this weekend’s edition of the Catholic Standard.
The newspaper said that the design and plans for the reconstruction have been agreed by the Sacred Heart Rebuilding Committee and Bishop Francis Alleyne.
According to the report, a public ceremony to mark the beginning of the rebuilding will be held later this month.
The cost of the rebuilding has been put at $80M and the report said that while all of the money has not yet been gathered, a number of potential donors have said that once reconstruction begins they will step forward.
The contractor for the project is Alan Fernandes and he will be working with Jerry Max.
