The national under-20 football team preparing for next week’s Caribbean Football Union (CFU) qualifiers will tonight take on the Western Tigers senior team at the Georgetown Football Club ground in their final warm-up game before leaving for the January 19-23.
This was disclosed by general secretary of the Guyana Football Feder
According to Adonis, the team, currently encamped at Watooka House in Linden since January 9, will end its period of encampment today.
Adonis said following tonight’s game, which commences at 3pm, the players will go to their respective homes before reassembling tomorrow at the Palace De Leon Hotel prior to their departure Monday for the tournament which is being staged in neighbouring Suriname.
Should the Guyana team win the four-nation tournament they will qualify for the final stage of the tournament which will be held in Jamaica in April, said Adonis.
The other two teams in the group are the Netherland Antilles and Bermuda.
The Guyana team is being coached by former national striker Collie Hercules with Linden France the technical advisor and Aubrey Hutson the manager.
Adonis also said that Guyana will participate in the CFU U-15 tournament in August and the women’s version of the U-20 qualifiers which will be held later this year.
