Former First Lady Joyce Hoyte was taken to a private city hospital yesterday afternoon and has since been admitted for tests.
Hoyte, the widow of late former President Hugh Desmond Hoyte, was moved from her North Road, Bourda, Georgetown home by an ambulance to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and a series of tests were subsequently conducted. The former First Lady is said to be in her late 70s.
When Stabroek News visited the hospital last night, it was confirmed that Hoyte had been admitted earlier in the day. However, at the time no comment could be offered on the condition of the former First Lady.
Hoyte was widowed in December 2002.
