(BBC) The first ever waste to energy plant in the Caribbean is about to be set up in Saint Lucia.
Canadian investors who say the plant will serve as a model for the rest of the region, are currently on the island to finalise plans for the US$50 million project.
Those plans include negotiations with St Lucia’s sole power company, LUCELEC, on buying the electricity that the green plant will generate.
Public Utilities Minister Guy Joseph says the government will ensure that the project goes ahead.
